On Sunday it was Father’s Day – a day to celebrate fathers of every kind.

Last weekend Australia celebrated Father’s Day. This is a day to thank the male role models in your life.

As Blogged about previously for Mothers Day, we all are from different walks of life which means we all see someone different as the “father” figure.

This could be:

  • Biological Fathers
  • Step Fathers
  • Foster Fathers
  • God Fathers
  • Grandfathers
  • Friend’s fathers
  • Mothers who are being both mum and dad, and
  • Someone who is not family, but you see them as a father figure.

Society guides us that Father’s Day is to be a celebration, a time to be all together as a family, however, this is not always possible. Some children and young people in Out of Home Care have supervised contact with their families by the nominated agency. This means they won’t be spending Father’s Day with their biological father, but with the foster father of the household.

To all the fathers – Thank you for being you and for the many ways you shine through.

Contact Us if you think you’re a great male role model and would be interested in becoming a foster father.
